Review of Night

I loved the memoir Night.  This was the first story I had ever read where I felt truly connected to the author, Elie Wiesel, and to the events that had occurred.  I have read numerous novels on the Holocaust, and this one was truly inspirational.  Mr. Wiesel narrates the troubles he experienced during the Holocaust with tremendous passion.  He used great detail and captured the struggle of this time in history.  What I enjoyed most about the book was the personal accounts.  In Night, the author recorded conversations between himself and minor characters.  When Moishe the Beadle, a homeless man, warned people the Nazis, nobody believed him.  Although Mr. Wiesel wanted to have faith in this man, he was not credible enough to persuade the rest of the Wiesel family to flee.  It was pages like this that made the book so memorable and realistic for me.  I felt that the author’s message was unique.  By the end of the memoir, a feeling of hope was prominently displayed.  I was inspired to be more appreciative of the time period that I was born in.
